Rural Skip Service

The Rural Skip will be sited in the Sports Field Car park on Saturday 16th June, 10am-4pm.  

In line with the new contract the following items will not be accepted through the Rural Skip service and will instead need to be taken to one of the Devon County Council run household waste and recycling centres (charge applies), the nearest of which is on Brunel Industrial Estate, Newton Abbot:

Dead pets and animals

Demolition and construction waste

Plastic pipes/guttering/facia etc

Food waste

Plastic window or door frames (with or without glass)

Bath or shower tray (plastic, fiberglass or composite)

Garden waste

Insulation materials

Shower screen (glass or plastic)

Soil and rubble (including tiles and sanitary ware)

Roofing felt

Trade waste


Hazardous waste (including fluorescent tubes)

Toxic wastes

Oils and other liquid wastes (including household chemicals)

Vehicle batteries

Gas cylinders

Sharps/clinical items

Plasterboard and asbestos

Starcross and Cockwood Tidal Defence Scheme

The Environment Agency is working towards delivering a tidal defence scheme for Starcross and Cockwood in order to reduce flood risk.

The project was identified as one of the priority schemes detailed in the Exe Estuary Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Strategy (EEFCRMS).  The proposed scheme is estimated to reduce flood risk to over 600 residential and commercial properties.

Starcross Pavilion

The Pavilion is open and available for hire for meetings, conferences, recreational activities and private functions. There is a hall with seating and tables for 50 people, fully equipped kitchen, disabled access and facilities, changing rooms and showers, with sports field and football pitch adjacent.
